Diedria B. Joseph selected as board member of the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance (WBEA).
Houston, TX – January 21, 2010 – Diedria B. Joseph, President/CEO of Topp Knotch Personnel, Inc. has been voted as a Board Member of the Women's Business Enterprise Alliance Board of Directors. Joseph will help lead the local affiliate chapter of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, an organization that certifies companies as woman-owned business enterprises (WBEs). Joseph will assist local woman business owners achieve their business goals.

Joseph plans to draw on her personnel services background to provide WBEs with vital human resources information to help them achieve their organizational goals. Joseph and other board members will create programming for the WBEA Texas, which in the past included networking events, educational and scholarship opportunities, and mentoring and leadership programs. Joseph plans to provide business-related insight about setting company goals and objectives and information laws and regulations pertaining to woman-owned businesses. WBEA Texas has over 675 member WBEs and serves 94 counties in Texas.

HELP FOR HAITI DRIVE

Dear Friend,

I am appealing to you on behalf of those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti, which early estimates state that has affected over 3 million people in the Port-au-Prince area. This 7.0 magnitude earthquake has caused widespread structural damage in an area which was heavily impacted by multiple tropical systems in 2008.

A dear friend of my family, Dr. Yvens LeBorde is a Haitian native and well-respected doctor in the New Orleans area. He is returning to Haiti to assist the area in its time of need. We are collecting donations to assist Dr. LeBorde in providing services to the Haitian people, including basic aid and healthcare services.

Topp Knotch Personnel will be accepting clothing and food items to benefit Haitian families. The Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce selects companies that are high-quality leaders in their field for this prestigious award. A Pinnacle Award-winning business must be a for-profit, 51% African-American-owned business that has been in operation for over three years. Topp Knotch Personnel is a woman and minority-owned business, specializing in full-service staffing and human resources and providing expert staffing solutions with nationwide capabilities.  Topp Knotch Personnel has experienced vast growth since 1995 with multiple governmental and private sector contracts and over $30M of revenues.

Joseph credits her company’s award to their positive response to difficult challenges. “We have learned that when we experience challenges that were beyond our control, it is necessary to have a ‘Plan B, C, and sometimes D,’” says Joseph, who main offices were in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005. Limited to a city literally closed for business, Joseph needed to rebuild and reevaluate her business plan and service offerings. She has since opened an office in Houston, acquiring many clients throughout the state of Texas and was well-prepared to address her clients’ business needs after Hurricanes Ike and Gustav.

The Pinnacle Award winners were announced at the awards gala on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Hotel Intercontinental with the Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League as the keynote speaker.
